What is a Grade Level Parent?
Grade Level Parents are volunteer parent leaders who work together to support all classes in a specific grade. Similar to room parents, they help organize activities, decorate classroom doors/hallways, communicate important information to other parents, and coordinate with teachers. Instead of focusing on just one classroom, Grade Level Parents collaborate as a team to ensure events, projects, and celebrations run smoothly for the entire grade level.
How do I become one?
If you're interested in becoming a Grade Level Parent for the 2026-2027 school year please complete this Grade Level Parent Interest Form, or email Sarah Ashby at sashby731@gmail.com.
*Please note that you must be ADDitions approved to serve as a Grade Level Parent. You can complete your ADDitions volunteer application here. You must complete an application every school year.*
Our first decorating opportunity is September 28–October 2 for Rock Your School! This year’s OCPS theme is “Rocking the Multiverse,” and Shenandoah will be focusing on NASA Mission Control and Alien Invasion—think astronauts, rockets, command centers, UFOs, aliens, and all things out of this world!
A few things to keep in mind:
All decorating needs to be done during school hours
Door windows must remain uncovered
Please decorate all classroom doors in your grade level
Large rolls of multicolored paper are available in the media center for you to use.
